Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef

1 lb bratwurst sausage, casing removed

1 large sweet onion, medium diced

1 can (28 ounce) diced tomatoes 

1 can (6 oz) tomato paste 

1 can (15 – 16 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (15 – 16 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed 

1 Tbsp pickled jalapenos, minced

1 Tbsp fresh minced garlic

2 Tbsp chili powder

1 tsp whole cumin seed

1 Tbsp Cajun seasoning

2 cubes chicken bouillon

2 Tbsp Texas Pete hot sauce

Directions:

  • Add the ground beef, sausage, and onion to a large stockpot and cook on medium heat. Break the meat into large pieces. Use a spoon to continue to break meats into smaller pieces as it cooks. Continue to cook until the meat is no longer pink.
  • Add 8 cups of water to the stockpot.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and bring contents to a rolling boil.
  • Reduce heat to a slow boil and cook for 1 hour, stirring every 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Serve with optional toppings.
