Ingredients:
1/2 cup bacon, small diced (approximately 4 slices)
1/2 cup onion, small diced
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp granulated garlic
1 quart fresh black-eye peas
6 cups water
Directions:
- Dice bacon and onion.
- In a large sauce pot, render bacon over low heat, releasing any fat. Do not burn.
- Add onions and stir until translucent, approximately 5 minutes.
- Next, add salt, pepper, and garlic.
- Add the black-eyed peas and water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and cook for approximately 45 minutes on medium heat or until beans are tender.
